The girls track and field team captured the league title last week at Duxbury due in large part of the performance and leadership of this week’s Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype Margaret Lowther.
She placed first and had personal bests in both the 100m and 200m sprints with times of 12.49 and 26.39, respectively, and placed second and pr’d the triple jump with a distance of 34’11”. In addition to these events, Margaret has also competed in and placed first in the 400m, 4 x 100 relay and the 4 x 400 relay in other races this season. The senior captain is her teammates’ biggest fan and supporter when she’s not racing.
“Margaret has been an instrumental part of the track program in her time here at Hingham High School,” says head girls track & field coach Bob Ritz. “She is a tremendous leader to her teammates and has great sportsmanship as she is always congratulating opposing athletes after races and being social with them.”
Margaret and her teammates will be competing this week in the Patriot League Championship Meet in Marshfield on Tuesday.
Congrats Margaret!
