At the beginning of last week, Hingham baseball was 5-12 and on the verge of missing the playoffs. With three games in 5 days, the Harbormen went 3-0 behind their senior captain’s tremendous performance at the plate and in the field. This week’s Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype Jeremy Aylward hit two homeruns, two triples, and a double those three games. In addition, he made some outstanding plays at shortstop to keep the momentum going.
“Overall, he’s a great player, a great kid, a great teammate and a great leader, but he did go wild for a week,” head coach Frank Niles says. “It was timely becuase we needed wins. I don’t remember a time in the last few years where he had a breakout week like last week. He also played good defense particularly during that stretch.”
“Jeremy has been absolutely mashing the ball,” adds fellow senior captain Tadd Cavanaugh. “With a rocky start to our season we needed a big offense and to win every game we could this week. With Jeremy’s lead-by-example ability, he was rocketing balls all week with incredible consistency. It’s no doubt in my mind he’s this week’s Athlete of the Week with all the nukes he’s been crushing.”
Congrats Jeremy on a great week and good luck in the playoffs!
