We are off and running into our third week celebrating the Athlete of the Week presented by College Hype. Senior Connor Anderson is this week’s winner. Connor is one of the captains of the boys cross country team who just missed the Hingham course record by 2 seconds last week. He also won his first career race and improved by 1 minute 38 seconds over a time trial he did two weeks prior on the same 2.98 mile course. He will look to lead his team again this week with a big home meet vs Duxbury on Tuesday.
“Connor has worked very hard for three years to be the excellent runner that he is today,” says coach Fred Jewett. “A captain and strong leader, he has taken the lessons learned from previous captains and All-stars and put them to good use. He knows how to pace himself and has the experience to compete at a very high level.”
Fellow senior captain Aydin Beck credits some of his intangibles for Connor’s success this season.
“Connor’s work ethic and mentality is why he is such a skilled runner,” Beck comments. “He is pushed by (senior captain) Aaron (Roberts) and his brother (junior) Gavin (Anderson) to perform better. And it clearly shows. Connor is a huge reason why we are competing for a league title.”
Congrats Connor!
