BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF MASSACHUSETTS HOSTS FIRST ANNUAL MENOPAUSE FUN WALK FOR EMPLOYEES

October 21, 2024 By Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts

On October 16, 300 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts employees came together to walk 1.3 miles outside at Blue Cross’ Hingham office to raise awareness for menopause. Over 1.3 million women in the U.S. experience menopause each year, and roughly 75% of Blue Cross’ employees are women, with an average age of 45!

Sponsored by Beyond the Pause, Blue Cross’ employee menopause support group, the walk featured music, snacks, and opportunities to connect with colleagues. The support group is led by Blue Cross’ in-house OB-GYN and encourages open dialogue on menopause while giving employees the opportunity to hear about resources available to them.

Last year, CEO Sarah Iselin declared Blue Cross a menopause-friendly workplace and the company has taken significant steps to support women’s health issues for both its own employees and our members. Blue Cross’ work, both internally and externally, is aimed at creating a workplace that is open, productive and supportive.
