There's some exciting news for both avid and casual shoppers interested in high-quality, unique items hand-crafted by skilled women entrepreneurs from all over New England -- ranging from candle and jewelry makers to woodworkers and bakers -- right here in Hingham.

Beginning this Saturday, July 24, the vibrant Boston Women’s Market, featuring more than 15 talented women makers and artists, will host in-person events once a month through December at The Launch at Hingham Shipyard, 18 Shipyard Drive, with beautiful views of the harbor as the backdrop.

The markets will take place on the newly-installed spacious lawn area between the Brio condominiums and 18 Shipyard Drive, across from Menchie's Frozen Yogurt -- rain or shine.

This is the perfect place to buy a gift for that special someone -- or yourself -- and later in the season, to do some holiday shopping.

Co-Founders Africa Rubio Pastor and Cara Loffredo created BWM in 2017 as a creative way to support women-founded businesses and artists. This event marks the BWM's South Shore debut.

Senior Property Manager for Samuels & Associates Rachel Ottley explained that following many months of curtailed activity due to COVID-19 restrictions, bringing the in-person BWM to the Launch is a collaborative effort. Samuels owns and manages the Launch.

"We wanted to create a community-building space where local vendors could sell their products and for South Shore [residents and beyond] to become familiar with what they have to offer and also to draw traffic to the Launch for our retailers and tenants and to provide a destination for the South Shore community to support local businesses," she said.

Ottley observed that there are many people in Hingham and surrounding communities who desire to shop locally: "We have the space, so why not provide a venue for local women-owned businesses to promote their wares and gain exposure to a new audience? We're really excited about this opportunity and happy to be [hosting BWM] for the rest of the year. Their products are amazing."

The vendor lineup at the Launch for July 24 includes: Her Best Foot Forward, Seasoned by the Sun, Evening Ink, Mariela's Sweets LLC, The Blank Canvas Company, RINA Jewelry, Mermaids + Madeleines, Solar Flair, Seven Sadie Lane, Gracie's Gunnies, and Peshtemal Collection.

The vendors -- which rotate monthly --  include a number of South Shore women: a jewelry maker, a macaroon baker,  a painter, and a businesswoman offering a line of skin care products. "BWM has both seasoned and new vendors," Ottley said.
