Can you spare one hour to help local birds, butterflies, bumblebees and turtles?

Help him on May 5th!

April 29, 2024 By Wild Cohasset

If you can weed, you can help save at-risk local wildlife like hummingbirds and Monarch butterflies! On Sunday May 5th, local environmental group Wild Cohasset hosts its annual Weed for Wildlife in Cohasset, Hingham, Scituate and Norwell.  Volunteers help to weed an invasive plant called garlic mustard which harms local wildlife by killing all of the wildflowers and other plants they depend upon; garlic mustard can kill an entire forest in a generation! The good news?  Every plant pulled this year prevents thousands next year and this annual event is making real progress at getting the local infestation  under control.  Volunteers of all ages are welcome: teen volunteers can receive community service credits, and families with young kids are welcome to sign up as well.  Volunteers will be assigned a location near their homes. No experience necessary!
