Kite Day at South Shore Country Club is back!
"This is a really fun time for people of all ages who will enjoy getting outside after being cooped up for so long during the winter," Trina Ott, event volunteer, told the Hingham Anchor. "Families and kids and others will be running through the fields having a great time flying their kites."
Kite Day is planned for Saturday, April 16, from 1 to 5 p.m.
The Greenside Grille will offer free popcorn and juice boxes for all to enjoy. An ice cream truck is scheduled to be on site, and 100th anniversary T-shirts will also be on sale. No kite, no problem. Kites are available for a small donation to the Friends of South Shore Country Club.
"We just want to make sure everyone has a chance to participate," said Ott, "so if you make a donation of any amount, we'll tell you to 'Go fly a kite' and send you on your way." Kites will be available while supplies last.
Because there will be many families on-site, information about the proposed pool project will be available. Volunteers will present information about the project as well as give walking tours of the new pool site. In order to get a sense of the project components and scale, people can walk on the existing tennis courts where the pool construction is expected.
"Hopefully, we'll have good weather," Ott said. "Even if it's chilly, this will be a great opportunity to bundle up the kids for a fun time outdoors." The course will be closed to golfers that day while the greens are being aerated. "It's wonderful that the Country Club embraces this event," Ott said. "Not surprisingly, the staff does a fantastic job coordinating with us."
