South Shore Conservatory is Committed to lifelong learning in the arts

South Shore Conservatory is committed to life long learning in the arts.

I find the start of a new school year at South Shore Conservatory (SSC) just as invigorating as ringing in a new calendar year. Each September brings opportunities for growth and creativity, giving new and returning students and their families a chance to discover their distinctive voice through arts learning and exploration.

We talk about fostering a vibrant arts community at SSC, but what does that mean? To me it means there’s no limit to our inclusive programs, where our youngest learners and adult students can co-exist through arts-integrated early childhood programs, creative arts therapies, private lessons, group classes, and ensembles. A young child can explore music or dance for the first time, a teen can let their creativity soar in a rock band, while an adult can discover the joy of making music with others in a chamber group.

We are proud that SSC serves as a hub for creativity in our region, with a commitment to lifelong learning. Our adult community is somewhat of a hidden gem. I love meeting our adult students and hearing their stories about what brought them to us. Some have been involved in the arts their entire lives, while others are picking up an instrument for the first time, or in many cases, picking up where they left off.  This year I’m particularly excited about Foundations of Music Theory and Building on Basics: Intermediate Music Theory, Adult Rock Band and 100 Songs Every Jazz Musician Should Know.

One of the best ways for a student to find their voice through the arts is through private lessons. In these settings, students of all ages engage in personalized instruction with talented, versatile teaching artists.  Beyond lessons, classes, and ensembles, SSC presents a variety of student and professional performances. We look forward to sharing music with our community through faculty and student concerts, and enrichment programs that blend performance with learning, as well as regular Open Mic Nights that provide a platform for our community-at-large to showcase their talents.

I invite you to explore the possibilities here for you at South Shore Conservatory. South Shore Conservatory has rolling admissions, so students may sign up for lessons and classes at any time. Learn more at sscmusic.org or find South Shore Conservatory on Facebook or Instagram.
