Crow Point Pizzeria owner moves on after 31 years: ‘I want to thank our customers from the bottom of my heart’

June 6, 2024 By Carol Britton Meyer

After founding Crow Point Pizzeria — ‘famous’ for its pizza, salads, calzones, pasta, and subs — with his brother, Vasillios, in 1993, Naso Gikas recently decided it was time to move on to new adventures.

The business, which was recently sold to a family from Toronto, continues to operate at 191 Lincoln St., under new management.

“I’d been in the business for 45 years — 31 of them at Crow Point Pizzeria — and while I loved our customers and what I was doing and had a great time, working seven days a week was a huge commitment and I plan to take it easy for awhile,” Gikas told the Hingham Anchor.

Over the past three decades, he has developed relationships with many of the shop’s loyal customers while doing what he does best — cooking. “It’s my passion.”

Crow Point Pizzeria has quietly supported the community through donations to various local causes over the years.

“I have lived here for 25 years, and I love the town. I’ll be living one day at a time, and I’m open to trying new things. I’ll be around,” he said. “I want to thank our customers from the bottom of my heart. I’ve had a great time serving them and will miss them.”

Now that he has some free time, Gikas is looking forward to relaxing, visiting his family — who he hasn’t seen in 20 years — in Greece and also his son who lives and works in Luxembourg.

Gikas said he’s hopeful the new Crow Point Pizzeria owners “will continue to make our customers happy. That’s what I think will happen.”

Vasso Thoua has also worked at the shop since it first opened, finishing her time there on June 7.

What she will miss the most is interaction with the customers. “Some who came into the shop as children have grown up and now bring their own children there,” she said.

The buffalo chicken calzones are a favorite among customers. “The kids [especially] love them,” Thoua said. “I often know what customers want before they place their orders!”

Thoua plans to accompany Gikas to Greece, where her family also resides.

While she looks forward to some time just to relax, she’s “open to other opportunities down the road.”

Thoua, too, expressed appreciation to the “whole community for their support all these years.”

  2. Congratulations and I wish them well – but such a loss for the community. I will miss seeing their smiling faces every time I was picking up up dinner. My kids who are now grown and live out of town are sad too. Thank you both for making Crow Point such a important part of our community. Kudos and best wishes.

  5. Vasso and Naso,

We’re heartbroken, and our stomachs are sad too. Hingham won’t be the same without you guys. You’ve really contributed to the community for so many years, including the jobs for Hingham kids. Few people can make so many people happy so often within 20 minutes! Happy journeys and relaxation, and THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  11. I’ve been there as the new owners were training. They are working diligently with Nasos, duplicating his successful ways. I’ve spoken to the new owners, ; they will NOT change a thing. Nasos and team are very impressed with their commitment to carry on his long tradition.
From what i have observed the past couple of weeks, Crows point Pizzeria will still “Wow’ you, it has me.
