David W. Finley

May 1953 – Nov 2024

Born 71 years ago, Dave was a lifelong Hingham Resident. Residing in Crow Point for 68 years he was extremely proud of being a “townie” and a “Crow Point Original.” As a young man he attended St Pauls School, Central Jr High and graduated Hingham High in 1971.

An outstanding athlete Dave won the National Presidential Physical Fitness Award. He played baseball, hockey, and football throughout his school years. His other passion was rock n roll. He was a great singer and blues harp player. Although being shy, Dave loved to perform for people and see them happy.

In 1975 he enlisted in the USAF. When his tour was up, he enrolled in Bay State School of Technology. He entered the computer industry where he spent the next 30 years. Not one to sit still upon retiring, Dave worked as a tech/janitor at South Shore Country Club.

Dave was predeceased by his mom, dad, older brothers Rich and Rob, his beloved younger brother John John, and his younger sister Mary. He is survived by his younger brother Jim of Weymouth and sister Margaret of Florida.

He will be buried at Bourne National Cemetery on December 18th with full military honors. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday January 9th at 10AM in the downstairs chapel of St Pauls Church in Hingham MA. A celebration of life will follow.

Dave will be remembered as a shy, kind, humble man. Always willing to help out friends and neighbors. A loyal friend. He loved to laugh. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

In our neighborhood you never really leave. Your spirit remains. You’re never really gone, until nobody remembers. That doesn’t happen where we come from.
