Derby Academy recently launched its "Derby Cares" initiative. Over the course of six weeks, the school has been and will continue to focus on important themes and values, and share stories of students, families, and alumni who are spreading kindness. The school would love for the extended community to join in!

The 6-week effort focuses on themes of Reconnection, Community, Recognizing Essential Workers and First Responders, Self-Care, Mentorship, and then a week to celebrate Derby. The stories of hope, engagement, empathy, and inspiration are at the core of Derby's community and a crucial component of the school's mission.

Derby Academy Grade 2 student Evelyn Urbano, of Hingham, poses with her growing collection of Kindness Rocks. Urbano decorated and delivered over two dozen Kindness Rocks (painted rocks with thoughtful messages) to her neighbors—she's even received responses back from neighbors she hadn't met.

Each week Derby is offering ways to get involved, spread kindness, and show support for our community. The school will be hosting yoga sessions from area yoga studios, collecting favorite recipes, and also opening up a challenge to stay active and run, walk, skip, or jump a total of 1,784 miles as a community!
