Derby Academy Students Honor Local Veterans

Derby Academy students wrote “thank-you” cards and personal messages of support during a Veterans Day card-making activity at Derby Academy in Hingham on Friday, November 1, 2019.

The handmade “thank you” cards and letters of support will be distributed to local veterans and active members of the armed forces in recognition of Veterans Day.

The event paired older students with younger students to write and decorate cards, as well as help understand the meaning behind the upcoming holiday.

Veteran faculty and staff from Derby Academy visited classrooms in uniform to share their experiences during their time serving our country. During a special presentation on Friday, November 1, the handmade “thank you” cards were presented to Hingham Director of Veterans' Services Senior Chief Petty Officer Keith Jermyn of the United States Navy to distribute to local veterans and active members of the armed forces prior to Veterans Day.
