Detectives arrested a Plymouth man following an investigation into a theft from a building under renovation in which over $63,000 worth of copper, wiring and tools were stolen.
On March 1, 2021 at 6:30am police were sent to 100 Industrial Park Road (a large warehouse being renovated for Amazon) for a report of a large scale theft that occurred over the weekend. The site is surrounded by a fence and locked gate. The hinges to the gate had been sheared off to gain access to the site then placed back in place. This would make the gate appear to still be locked while the suspect(s) were inside.
The suspect(s) used a vehicle and trailer to enter the renovated warehouse. The suspect(s) spray painted the inside of windows that faced the gate to prevent anyone from seeing their activity inside during the night. They used a forklift and mechanical lift that were on site to remove all the copper piping that had been installed in the ceilings, to take electrical wires and move pallets containing 36 spools of electrical wire. The locked tool containers of several contractors were also broken into and their tools stolen.
Taken from the site was approximately $27,500 worth of plumbing materials, $18,700 worth of electrical materials and $17,250 worth of tools. The damage caused from removing the items was over $13,000.
