Dinah Collins

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dinah Collins on October 28th, 2024, in Boston, MA, at the age of 72.  Dinah was born on February 15th, 1952, in Boston, MA, to Nancy and Ernest Wright. After graduating with a degree in Nursing from UMass-Amherst, she worked as an Oncology Nurse at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for 46 years. She will be remembered for her genuine kindness and dedication not only to patients, but to her friends and colleagues as well.  She was the type of person that you could call anytime, and she would be there with unwavering support and compassion.

She loved gardening, books, baking, the beach, and her beloved dogs over the years.  She attended Second Parish Church since 1990 and was an active member since 2005.

She married John F. Collins in 1979. In their 45 years of marriage, they enjoyed hiking in the White Mountains, nordic skiing, traveling, and raising their twin daughters. In recent years, both of her daughters relocated to Colorado and looked forward to her annual visits.

She is survived by her loving husband John F. Collins, daughters Julia Griskewicz (Collins) and Siobhan Hannon (Collins), and sisters Jessica Wright, Sarah Wright, and Judy Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents Nancy Wright and Ernest Wright.

A memorial service to honor Dinah’s life will be held November 16th, 2024 at 2pm at Second Parish, located at 685 Main Street, Hingham, MA. The family welcomes all who knew Dinah to join them in celebrating her memory. For more information and online guestbook go to www.downingchapel.com
