Weir River Water System (WRWS) personnel are responding to reports of discoloration, currently impacting customers throughout the Hull peninsula, as well as Hingham and Cohasset.
WRWS and partner Veolia North America are working diligently to mitigate impacts within the system and are venting hydrants in an effort to remove the discolored water.
We will continue to provide updates throughout this response.
According to our plumber, all people using the town water should have a full house filtering system to prevent the damage to our toilets, faucets, etc. which this brown water is causing. The cost of these filters installed is $2000-$4000, The town always says to check the brown water if you are doing laundry. What about if you drink the water, shower in the water, cook with the water? These are all more dangerous to us than laundry, and more expensive too as we were told our faucets, showers, toilets, etc. will only last 3-4 years without the filter. That’s an expense we shouldn’t have to pay. The town should have a filtering system.
