Dorothy A. Noble

Dorothy A. Noble, age 93, of Hingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her home on August 29th.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1931, and raised in Fall River, Dorothy was the eldest child of the late John Alves Carvalho and Marjorie (Dean) Carvalho. She graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1948 and Westbrook College, now the University of New England, in 1950. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Warren B. Noble, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage. She is survived by her brother, Reverend Alan Carvalho of North Carolina, and her brothers- and sisters-in-law: Stephen and Marion Noble of California, and Cynthia and Donald Travis of Texas.

Dorothy and Warren leave behind a loving legacy that includes their children: Eric and Patricia Noble of Hiram, ME; Jeffrey Noble of Plymouth, NH; Brian and Sharon-Lee Noble of Norwell, MA; Kent and Kimberly Noble of Kennebunk, ME; Kimberly and John Hubbard of Parsonsfield, ME; and Debra and Ray Clark of Weymouth, MA. In addition to their children, they opened their hearts and homes to numerous foster children and others they considered family, raising them with love and care. Dorothy’s memory will also be cherished by their twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers who attended to Dorothy in her final days.

Dorothy and Warren founded Noble’s Camera Shops in 1956, retiring in 1994. They were dedicated members of the United Church of Christ in Norwell (Linden Ponds) and the West Baldwin (ME) United Methodist Church. Their lifelong partnership in marriage, family, and business exemplified devotion, integrity, generosity, and profound love.
