Driver Arrested After Hitting Pedestrian in Crosswalk

A Hingham woman was arrested for alleged repeat drunk driving after hitting a pedestrian in a crosswalk Thursday night. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On November 21, 2024 at 7:03pm Officers responded to the intersection of Water St. and Mill St. for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by an SUV. Officers learned the pedestrian had been crossing Water Street in the marked crosswalk when she was struck by an SUV. Following an investigation, the SUV driver was arrested at the scene. The pedestrian, a 58 year old Whitman woman, was transported to South Shore Hospital by Hingham Fire Paramedics.

Arrested was Suzanne Collins, age 75, of 42 Floret Circle, Hingham, MA. She was charged with: 1) Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol (2nd Offense) 2) Negligent Operation 3) Failure to Yield to Pedestrian in Crosswalk. She was released after posting $500 cash bail for her arraignment at Hingham District Court on November 22, 2024. ### Contact P.I.O. Lt. Steven Dearth.
