A 58 year-old Hull man was arrested after being involved in a crash last Tuesday. At the scene he told Officers he had thrown a bag of crack cocaine under his truck after the crash. He admitted to have just smoked crack. Both he and the other driver were both transported to the hospital by paramedics.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 2:25pm Officers responded to the intersection of George Washington Blvd. and Rockland St. for a report of a two car crash. Officers determined that one vehicle, a 2002 Dodge Dakota, had traveled east from Rockland St. onto George Washington Blvd. through a red light and struck the driver’s side of a 2010 Toyota Rav that was traveling through with a green light on Rockland St.
Officers noticed the driver of the Dodge was acting very erratic and pacing back and forth. The driver said he had just smoked crack cocaine. He also said he had been smoking a large amount of it for the last four days and has not slept in days. He then told Officers he had just thrown a bag of crack in the street under his truck following the crash. Officers recovered a plastic bag in the road which contained suspected crack cocaine. He was placed under arrest.
The arrested driver and the driver of the Toyota were transported to South Shore Hospital by Hingham Fire Paramedics for minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed.
Arrested was Dennis J. Ellsey, age 58 of 58 E Street, Hull, MA. He was charged with: 1) Operating Under the Influence of Drugs 2) Possession of a Controlled Class B Substance (Cocaine) Subsequent Offense 3) Negligent Operation. He was treated and released that evening from the hospital and held overnight on bail. He was arraigned at Hingham District Court on September 4, 2019.
