Junior Lars Osterberg moves the puck up ice in front a packed house at Stoneham Arena. Hingham/Burlington was the 1st game of the Super 8 opening round double header.
After Burlington ties it up 1-1, Senior Terrance Concannon chases the puck down in behind Burlington's net moments before he scores the go ahead goal for Hingham as the 1st period winds down.
Sophomore Goalie Luke Merian made his Super 8 debut last night making some impressive saves in the 2nd period.
Sophomore defensemen Bobby Falvey continues to show why he gets lots of quality minutes by chasing down loose pucks and firing away at the blue line.
Senior Captain Danny Packard made his presence felt last night with some tremendous open ice hits along with his great defense.
As the 3rd period started tied up 2-2, Freshman Aiden Brazel races up the ice to create some offense for the Harbormen. Throughout the game, Brazel was continuously taking the puck to the net and just missed scoring on a few chances.
Senior James Eustace battles for position in front of the Burlington goalie in the 3rd period. Hingham outplayed Burlington in the final frame, but just couldn't find the back of the next. Burlington ended up scoring on a rebound with a little over 2 minutes left in the game.
Senior Will Ham almost gets the back hand shot past the goalie. There was a reason why these are 2 of the top public school programs in the state. Both teams played really well and absolutely deserved to be there.
In a final attempt to tie it up with the extra skater on the ice, Junior Paul Forbes battles around the net to try and punch it in but falls short. Although Hingham lost, they will now be slotting in the D1 tournament (most likely as the top seed in the South bracket) along with Reading, who lost a tremendous game against Framingham in 2OTs following Hingham's game.
