Eva D Chiavaris, (Diamond) 97 of Hingham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 28, 2024.
She was born on March 7, 1927 to the late George and Jenny Diamond of Boston. Eva was one of five children who grew up in Roslindale. She would often share happy memories of growing up and playing with her siblings in the Arboretum that bordered their home. After graduating from Roslindale High School in 1944 she worked as a secretary in Boston.
In 1948 she married Alexander Chiavaris and they had three children. Eva’s whole life centered around her family and extended family. She was a loving, fun loving, caregiving daughter, wife, mother, yiayia, great grandmother, sister and auntie. She was truly special.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband Alex and her son Chuck, her sisters Katherine Diamond and Stella Govostes and brothers James Diamond and Peter Diamond. She is survived by her daughters Joanne Smith and her husband Kevin of Hingham and Kathryn Morris and her husband Roger of Abington. She was grandmother to Bryan Smith and his wife Jacqueline, Kristin Belmore and her husband Alan, Kaitlin Paine, Matthew Morris and his wife Ariana, Alex Morris and his wife Kristen and Robert Morris. She was great grandmother to Charlie, Adam, Logan, Cameron, Drew, Eva, Theo, Micah and Mila. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday June 3rd from 4-7pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham. A funeral service will be held Tuesday June 4th at 10am at the Nativity-Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church, 811 Jerusalem Rd, Cohasset. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eva’s name to The ALS Association.
