Florence J. (Komorowski) Massimo, of Hingham, and formerly of Providence, Rhode Island, died peacefully with family on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, in her home at Linden Ponds. She was 89.
Born in Flushing, Queens, New York, on Feb. 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Lucy Komorowski.
Florence lived in many cities throughout her life, though most of her years were spent living, working and raising her family in Providence and in Boston. Florence worked as an alumni development researcher for Brown University. She enjoyed her career and the relationships she built throughout the years.
Her interests included gardening and dogs, and she had a lifelong love and talent for oil painting.
Florence was the beloved wife of the late professor Joseph T. Massimo, who died in 1987. The two shared many wonderful years of marriage and friendship. She was the devoted mother of Thomas G. Massimo and his spouse, Claire, of Hingham, and of Richard Massimo and his spouse, Christine Evans, of Washington, D.C. Florence was the loving grandmother of three and the dear sister of 10. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Florence’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 10 AM in Church of the Resurrection, 1057 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with interment in Swan Point Cemetery, in Providence. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Florence’s name to American Red Cross or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
