Auditions for “Footloose,” the Broadway show that is Hingham Civic Music Theatre’s next production, are scheduled for Sunday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 4, at Sanborn Auditorium of Hingham Town Hall.
HCMT’s “Footloose” will be presented Aug. 2 and 3, and Aug. 10 and 11 at Sanborn.
Director Nathan Fogg DeSisto, along with choreographer Samantha Brior Jones Sullivan, and music director Kelly Depasque, will do the casting for the show, and plan any callbacks for Thursday, June 6. Audition times may be reviewed at this signup website www.hcmt.org/auditions, and auditioners are asked to bring a headshot and resume along with their appointments.
The 1998 hit Broadway musical, based on a 1984 movie, has music by Tom Snow, among other composers, and lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and Kenny Loggins as an additional lyricist. The show’s book is by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie.
“Footloose” tells the story of young Ren McCormack’s move, with his mother, from Chicago to a small farming town, where he thinks he’s prepared to adjust to a new high school. But instead he finds a rural community filled with shocking rules that include a ban on dancing—the work of a local preacher who want to control the area’s young people.
Hingham Civic’s hit production of “Grease” last year was DeSisto’s last directing credit at Sanborn. https://www.hinghamanchor.com/grease-is-back-for-final-shows-saturday-and-sunday-after-a-stunning-opening-at-hingham-town-halls-stage/#more-51032
The Sanborn stage—which most recently was the scene of Hingham Civic’s production of “Gypsy,” is at 210 Central St. in Hingham.
