LINDSAY CRONIN & LINDSAY MULLANEY – BEST FRIENDS RUNNING TOGETHER FOR THEIR BEST FRIEND

What inspired you to run the Boston Marathon?  Are you running on behalf of a non-profit, if so which one and why did you choose the organization?

We, along with our best friend Jennifer Cavanaugh, graduated from Boston College together in 2005.  We haven't left each other sides since and now all reside in Hingham with our families.

Jennifer was diagnosed with HER2+ breast cancer in June 2018 and has bravely been undergoing treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since. This news 10 years ago could have had far less of a positive outcome, but due to the dollars raised and dedicated to top cancer researchers, antibodies targeting the HER2 gene were discovered, and have thankfully given Jen a very positive prognosis.   We are so grateful for this and decided to pay it forward by running the Boston Marathon as part of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team.  Our goal is to raise $100K+.  One hundred percent of every dollar raised by the DFMC team supports the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber. These funds are fueling some of today's most promising basic cancer research.

Do you listen to tunes when training? If so, what music powers you through those long runs?

LC: One of my go to’s is "This is Me" by Keala Settle and the entire soundtrack to a "A Star is Born"

LM: Bruce Springsteen "Into the Fire" is on my marathon mix six times!

Favorite place to train in Hingham?

For shorter runs, we loved running (and getting lost) in Wompatuck State Park.

Any advice for people that read this and may be inspired to train next year?

Marathon training means sacrificing both time and energy.  We've been away from our kids every Saturday morning for 18 weeks.  But if you're running for a cause close to your heart, it's a sacrifice that you will never regret.

LIZ BUNSTEIN – TRIPLE STROLLER TRAINING FOR HER UNCLE

What inspired you to run the Boston Marathon?  I’ve always been an avid runner. After our second baby arrived, I started running half marathons.  By the time baby #3 arrived I already had it in my head that I had to run The Boston Marathon.

Are you running on behalf of a non-profit, if so which one and why did you choose the organization? I’m running The Boston Marathon for Spaulding Rehabilitation Center, Race for Rehab Team.  I chose to only apply to spinal cord injury charities and rehabilitation centers.  My uncle is a quadriplegic, thus these types of charities are very close to my heart.

Do you listen to tunes when training? If so, what music powers you through those long runs?

When I run with my kids in the triple jogger I do not listen to music. We typically play I spy.  When I run alone I need my music to power me through.  I listen to everything from the Grateful Dead to Notorious BIG to Chris Stapleton.  Lately there is a lot of Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga in the mix and of course who doesn’t have a little Queen on their play list?

Favorite place to train in Hingham?

I have a bunch of great running loops here in town based on my mood or how many miles I need to run. My favorite route is from Summer St. all the way up Main St. to Kentucky fried chicken at Queen Anne’s Corner.  I always joke about running through the drive through for some biscuits.  I love this route because it’s downhill on the way home and because I love to admire all the beautiful houses on Main St

Any advice for people that read this and may be inspired to train next year?

My advice is this; if Boston is even a thought don’t hesitate for a second.  Go for it.  Do it. The timing will never be perfect. The training will always be grueling, time consuming, and taxing on you and your family. The journey to Boston is truly an amazing and an empowering experience.  I’ve been so blessed to have so much support from family and friends as I prepare for my first marathon.

I want to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey.  It takes a village and I have a pretty amazing village.

TEDDY LEE – A DAD INSPIRED TO RUN FOR HIS DAUGHTER

What inspired you to run the Boston Marathon?  I’ve always wanted to run not just "a" marathon, but “THE” marathon.  And, I wanted to do something to support an amazing charity that means a ton to our family.

Are you running on behalf of a non-profit, if so which one and why did you choose the organization? I am running on behalf of NF Northeast whose mission is to find treatments and the cure for neurofibromatosis (NF) by promoting scientific research, creating awareness and supporting those who are affected by NF.

Do you listen to tunes when training? If so, what music powers you through those long runs? An odd mix of Eddie Vedder, The Grateful Dead, Guns N Roses and Pandora Mumford & Sons Radio!

Favorite place to train in Hingham? Bare Cove & Main Street

Any advice for people that read this and may be inspired to train next year?  Be kind to your wife/husband/SO -- long training days in the winter wouldn't have been possible without my wife Amie's support!
