The Bathing Beach may look like a construction zone, but it’s not stopping the Hingham Farmers Market from being a destination shopping stop every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As we are approaching high season for fresh fruits and vegetables, each week brings a new bounty, including berries, salad greens, cucumbers, beans, peas, broccoli, beets, radishes, and other goodies. The fresh corn and tomatoes will be here before you know it!
Shoppers are also lining up for fresh fish, seafood, chicken, eggs, meat, breads, crafts & jewelry, plants, and other specialty foods. Rotating vendors mean that there are new items each week, so there’s always something new and different to discover!
Our partnership with The Fruit Center on the SNAP (formerly called food stamps) program has debuted with great success. Thanks to The Fruit Center’s generosity, SNAP patrons can stretch their shopping dollars with a match program. This allows everyone access to fresh, local, and seasonal foods!
Swing by the Friends Booth, near the entrance, to find out more about how this helps our community!
We’ve enjoyed two visits from The Hingham High School Green Team so far this season. They’ve been selling their reusable shopping bags to help people get ready for the Single Use Plastic Bag ban that will take effect in Hingham November. The Team enjoyed educating shoppers about this important change and how their recycling efforts are making a difference.
I love the story and especially the photo- Great to see families buying locally grown fresh produce, poultry meat and fish!
