The Hingham High School girls hockey team was recognized by the select board this week for achieving the Division 1 State Championship at TD Gardens recently in front of thousands of Hingham fans.
“The score was 5-2 — fantastic!” Chair Joseph Fisher exclaimed.
He and fellow select board members Liz Klein and William Ramsey handed out signed certificates of recognition to each team member who attended the meeting.
“Four team members are seniors, who will be graduating this year, but there will be a strong number of team members returning next year,” Fisher noted.
Ramsey, who attended the game, noted that the HHS girls hockey team “dominated the game from start to finish. What you accomplished that day you will talk about at high school reunions and remember for the rest of your lives. This was an outstanding team effort.”
Klein commended the team for their sportsmanship and keeping each other motivated. “It was awesome to see the whole town come out for you that day.”
Fisher noted that the team members are role models for “each other, other students, and the town as a whole. This was truly a special season that will go down in Hingham’s history.”
The coaches were also recognized. “The team couldn’t have done it without you and your leadership,” he said.
