Gloria J. (Caplette) Barbuto, of Hingham, died peacefully on Thursday November 4, 2021 at Bridges by Epoch in Hingham. She was 84.
Gloria was the beloved wife of the late Frank S. Barbuto, who died October 2017. Together they spent many loving years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Brenda Koch and her husband John of Cockeysville, Maryland, and Bonnie Hobbs, Belinda Ray and her husband Ken, all of Norwell. Gloria was also the proud and adored grandmother, “Mamie”, of Maddie, Wylie, Daniel, Alexander, Emma and Sophie and great grandmother of Felix. She was the dear sister of Dennis Caplette and his wife Elizabeth of Martinez, Georgia, and sister in law of Bette Howlett and her husband Phil of Hingham, and Mary Jane Wallace and her husband Frank of Groton, Connecticut. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and clients.
Born In Leominster, MA on November 13, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Bertha (Parkhurst) Caplette. During her second year of college she met the love of her life, Frank, married, and moved to Hingham where she spent most of her adult years and raised her family.
Gloria was an Interior Designer and owner of The Hingham Upholstering Company from 1975 to 2001. She enjoyed her work and the relationships she built with her clients throughout the years. She was an enthusiastic and avid golfer and member of Cohasset Golf Club and was the first woman to be elected as President of the Hingham Rotary Club. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services and interment will be held at a later date to be announced.
