Hingham Civic Music Theatre has scheduled auditions for its April 2020 show—“Guys and Dolls”—to be held Monday and Wednesday, Jan. 13, and 15, at Town Hall’s Sanborn Auditorium.
The hilarious 1950 hit Broadway musical is based on the stories of Damon Runyon about the strange world of New York gamblers and their coterie. It features great Frank Loesser songs like “If I Were a Bell,” “Luck Be a Lady,” “Fugue for Tin Horns” and “Adelaide’s Lament.” Performances will be at Sanborn the weekends of April 17 and April 25.
Veteran director Steve Dooner and music director Trey Lundquist will be leading the team that selects cast members. On both Monday and Wednesday evenings auditioners will be reviewed in three one-hour time slots: at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Town Hall is at 210 Central St. in Hingham. Requests for one of those time slots should be made online to stagemomma2003@yahoo.com.
Hingham Civic asks those auditioning to prepare 16 to 32 bars of a song in the style of the show, but not actually from “Guys and Dolls.” Auditioners should bring sheet music for a Hingham Civic pianist to play for their audition.
Those who are called back for a second audition will be heard on Thursday, Jan. 16. Additional information is available at www.hcmt.org/audition-cast-info.html.
