“Guys and Dolls,” Hingham Civic Music Theatre’s thrilling current production, closes Nov. 5 and 6 with a Saturday 7:30 p.m. performance and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee, all in Hingham Town Hall’s Sanborn Auditorium.
The first weekend last Friday and Saturday won audience raves—for the classic musical comedy’s singing, dancing, choreography and orchestra accompaniment. But especially for the performances of its stars: Sara Camden Daly of Hingham (as missionary Sarah Brown), Rylan Vachon of Boston (gambler Sky Masterson), Cynthia Krebs Lee of Duxbury (Hot Box Club dancer Miss Adelaide), and Brendan Smith of Plymouth (gambler Nathan Detroit.) Also winning plaudits were a range of other characters, led by Rockland’s Bonnie Gardner (Nicely-Nicely Johnson), Quincy’s Chris Caron (Benny Southstreet), Jim Foster of Milton (missionary Arvide Abernathy), and Joel Leonard (as gambler Big Jule) and Sarah Dewey (the mission’s Gen. Cartwright), both of Hingham.
Director Steve Dooner of Weymouth also plays one of the gamblers. Choreography is by Hingham’s Diane Byrne Gossard, with music direction by Plymouth’s Sarah Troxler, who is also at the piano, leading the orchestra. Tickets are $25--$20 for seniors and students—with group pricing available—and can be purchased online at HCMT.org, or at the door.
