It is not often that the Harbormen Hockey Team can team up for a win with the Harborwomen Hockey team, but on Christmas Eve, they were both winners on and off the ice.

The two teams joined forces with their cross town rivals the Weymouth Wildcats to collect food to benefit the Hingham and Weymouth Food Pantries.  The Booster Parents contacted Hingham Coach Tony Messina and Weymouth Coach Patrick Kennedy to meet the challenge and they both enthusiastically were in! Next up was the Harborwomen and Booster Parent Jimmy Moynihan exclaimed with a twinkle in his eye “let’s do this!”

The teams collected 727 lbs of non-perishables during the two games! At the end of the boys’ game, it was a scene from Santa’s workshop as all the hockey parents lined up to move the boxes of food into the Booster Parents’ cars.

On Tuesday, team captains, Aidan Brazel, Ace Concannon, Billy Jacobus, Chase McKenna along with senior defenseman Liam Burns joined Harborwomen Captains, Abby Kennedy, Erin Packard and Brenna Moynihan to deliver the food to the Hingham Pantry.  Hingham Pantry volunteer Donna Ragusa texted the impressive news of 727 lbs collected! This will be shared with our friends at the Weymouth Food Pantry.

Hingham coach Tony Messina was impressed with the collection as he prides himself on the Harbormen displaying a positive and giving attitude when wearing the Hingham Jersey. He quipped “wow that is more than last year!”

Thank you for all who contributed in the spirit of the season.
