Head-On Crash Leads To Charges

On Sunday March 20, 2022 Hingham Officers responded to the area of 28 George Washington Blvd for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Arriving Officers discovered a Ram pickup and Kia Sportage both with heavy front end damage in the roadway.

Witnesses allege the Ram pickup truck had been traveling south bound and was being operated erratically prior to the crash. It was reported to be speeding, weaving in and out of lanes, and crossed into the oncoming lane. The operator of the Kia was traveling north bound and attempted to move out of the way of the Ram but was struck head on. During the subsequent investigation it was determined that a child had not been properly restrained in the Ram.

Both operators and a third party were transported by the Hingham Fire Department to South Shore Hospital and Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.

The operator of the Ram will be summonsed to Hingham District Court for the following: 1)Reckless Endangerment of a Child 2) Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3) Unsafe Operation of a Motor Vehicle 4) Marked Lanes Violation 5) Speeding Rate Exceeding Posted Limit 6) Seat Belt, Fail to Wear 7) Child Under 8 Years Old Without a Car Seat

An immediate threat license suspension request was sent to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles for the operator of the Ram truck.
