The United States Post Office is sponsoring a nationwide collection of healthy, non-perishable food items Saturday, May 11, as part of its annual food drive.
It's easy to give -- just leave your items by your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up and deliver to local food banks and pantries. The Hingham Food Pantry, based at Second Parish Church, 685 Main St., will benefit from this food drive.
Examples of donations you might make include pasta, cereal, oatmeal, canola oil, peanut butter, and canned goods including beans, fruit, vegetables, soup, tuna in water, meat, and sauce. Please avoid glass containers.
This food collection is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, the United States Postal Service, UFCW (United Food and Commercial Workers), the AFL-CIO, the United Way, Kellogg's, and others.
