The Hingham Farmers Market (HFM) announces the opening of its 2021 season, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Station Street parking lot from 9am-1pm. The lot is located at the intersection of Station Street and Water Street. [A useful GPS address is: 95 Station St., Hingham, MA 02043.]
“We are excited to be back and opening on time this year,” said Mark Cullings, president of the market. “We will continue to operate under the same COVID-19 public health restrictions as we did last year. Although we can only host about half our normal complement of vendors at the start, we look forward to welcoming more as the season progresses if restrictions are eased.” Furthermore, he added that the market owes thanks to the many Hingham officials who’ve worked hard to make the market’s return a reality.
The market will be a traditional walk-through market but will continue to enforce capacity limitations as well as requiring mask and social distancing practices.
The HFM’s popular SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Match program, generously underwritten by The Fruit Center Marketplace, will be back, giving additional purchasing power to SNAP eligible customers. Hingham Institution for Savings, the market’s primary corporate sponsor for many years, has again provided a grant to underwrite some of the HFM’s operational costs.
Preordering market products remains available to customers who wish to use this option. Preordering became useful and popular last year when the market implemented COVID-19 practices. Please visit the HFM webpage at: www.hinghamfarmersmarket.org and click the preorder tab on the homepage.
