This Friday, February 7th, 2020 marks a special day for Notre Dame Academy, the Hingham Community and the SNAP program.
The second annual Jessica Bradbury Adams Basketball Classic will be played Hingham High School in honor and memory of the Late Jessica Bradbury Adams; beloved coach, mentor and friend.
Jess Adams passed away on December 11, 2017, at the age of 38, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. An outstanding athlete and leader, Jess thrived on her high school basketball team at Notre Dame Academy. She graduated from Boston College in 2001 where she met her husband Bobby of 11 years. Jess and Bobby made their home in Hingham and welcomed two children, Quinn (age 8) and Owen (age 10). Jess coached basketball at her alma mater Notre Dame Academy and served on the board of directors for the South Shore Special Needs Athletic Partnership (SNAP).
The community is invited to join Notre Dame Academy at Hingham High School for all three levels of basketball (3:30-5:00-6:30) and for recognition of the positive impact Jess made on so many lives.
At 6:30pm, during the Varsity game, Jess will be honored and a brief speaking program will be held in her memory. Owen Adams, Jess' son and his teammates from the Hingham Travel A Team will take the court at halftime for a brief exhibition.
When asked what this event means to Jess' family, Bobby Adams shared with the Anchor, "for so many reasons the JBA classic is the perfect tribute to honor Jess’s legacy. She was an unbelievably proud NDA player and coach but Jess also engrained herself into the Hingham high school athletic community and SNAP. When Jess was honored with an MIAA leadership award in the spring of 2017 she walked hand in hand with her NDA players, members of the Hingham girls soccer and lacrosse teams and kids who participated in the SNAP basketball program."
Last year, at the first annual JBA Basketball Classic, Jess’ number, #15, was retired to honor her accomplishments as a coach and player.
Adams shared in conclusion, "the influence and positive impact she had on her student athletes is forever. This game will be a celebration of her dedication to athletics and to show Owen and Quinn what their mom meant to NDA and the Hingham community as a whole."
