The 2022-23 High School Barker Basketball season that began last December was a big success, culminating on Saturday, March 25, with Championship Saturday at the South Shore Sports Center.
HS Barker attracted nearly 200 participants this season, comprising a record 18 teams.
Championship Saturday ended with “Norm Squad” winning a very competitive basketball Championship game over “Why Not.”
In addition to the Championship game, Evan Jewell won the annual 3 Point Championship and Gabriel Teslier, the Knockout Championship.
“The League is open to any boy in high school, but is mostly made up of Hingham kids,” High School Barker Commissioner John Mannion told the Hingham Anchor. “While boys who already play on school teams are welcome to join, most of the League is made up of boys who aren’t on a high school basketball team.”
The League is self-coached and organized, with each team coming up with its own name and a parent contact for each team.
Returning and new players are looking forward to signing up for what they hope will be another successful season later this year.
