Hingham Building Permit System To Be Upgraded January 29th

January 22, 2024 By The Town of Hingham

As the Town of Hingham prepares to upgrade its building permitting process on January 29 th , the existing system will be shut down and unable to issue permits on Thursday, January 25 th and Friday January 26 th .

Hingham Building Commissioner Mike Clancy wants homeowners, and contractors, to be aware of the two-day gap.

The new Permit Eyes 20/20 Program is cloud-based and allows municipalities to electronically receive applications, collect electronic payments, conduct inspections, and issue permits.

“The new software will allow homeowners, contractors and business owners to navigate the process more easily by tying together all permitting needed to provide a building permit. For example, it includes mapping flood plains and historically significant properties, both of which are important to building in Hingham. We’re excited to launch it,” Clancy explained.

The changeover includes implementing increased fees for electrical, plumbing, and gas permits, as approved by Town Meeting in 2023.
