Hingham Congregational Church Nails Volunteer Opportunity at Habitat for Humanity

October 9, 2024 by The Hingham Congregational Church

On October 5th, the Hingham Congregational Church partnered with South Shore Habitat for Humanity to help with the building of a duplex next to The Corner Stop Eatery by the Hingham, Hull, Cohasset line. Eight church members did various jobs on site, including measuring, cutting and nailing strapping to the ceilings in preparation for the drywall to be installed, prepping the roof to install the ridge board and rafters, and framing of the walls for the bathroom, closet, and one of the bedrooms.

This is the first new individual affordable housing building in Cohasset in 20 years, and the two recipient families have already been chosen by the Habitat organization.

There is much more to do, and South Shore Habitat for Humanity is seeking individuals, groups, and construction crews who are interesting in giving back to the community by volunteering their time. Contact Volunteer Coordinator Michael Ryan at
