“Hingham for the Holidays” — a month-long variety of festive events — will kick off in late November with the annual “Adopt a Lamppost” campaign that helps make the downtown area festive and bright for the holidays.
On Saturday, Nov. 23, the celebration begins, with a “Holiday Preview” featuring trunk shows, special promotions, and holiday treats throughout the business community from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Hardly Saints Donuts truck will be in downtown Hingham from 10 a.m. to noon.
“Hingham for the Holidays celebrates, connects, and supports our beautiful downtown,” HDA Executive Director Amy Brown told the Hingham Anchor. “There will be hayrides, live music, pop-ups, and special events throughout the month.”
Beginning Nov. 30 and continuing through the holidays, hayrides and other holiday features will be offered for the enjoyment of the Hingham community and beyond, along with an opportunity to support local businesses during Small Business Saturdays, continuing through December.
Downtown strollers and shoppers will enjoy stopping by the Little Wolf Bake Shop pop-up from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 30. There will also be live music performances.
Christmas in the Square celebration
The traditional Christmas in the Square celebration — hosted by the Hingham Downtown Association — will continue the holiday season on a festive note on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of the month-long “Hingham for the Holidays” celebration.
This much-looked-forward-to event will feature a visit from Santa, performances, vendors, and an opportunity to stop by local shops to experience firsthand their holiday offerings.
“Christmas in the Square is always a favorite, and that whole weekend there will be something for everyone,” Brown said. “Join us on Friday night, then come back on Saturday to shop, eat, and enjoy a festive stroll throughout our downtown.”
Menorah lighting
Congregation Sha’aray Shalom is partnering with the Hingham Unity Council, Hingham Community Center, and the Hingham Human Rights Commission to host a menorah lighting at Hingham Community Center on Monday, Dec. 30, with more details to come.
“We could not do what we do without the support of our sponsors and community,” Brown said. “It’s a true ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ moment when you realize that we all support each other in such a profound way, especially this time of year.”
