On October 25-27, the 14 and under Hingham Girls hockey team travelled to Lake Placid, New York for an international hockey tournament hosted by Can/Am Hockey. Facing teams from Ontario, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New Jersey, Hingham was notably the only “town” hockey team in a bracket of “club” teams.

After suffering a 0-2 loss in game 1 against a tough Ontario team, the Hingham girls rebounded with a gutsy 4-1 win over the Union Thunder from New Jersey. The girls found another gear and went on to win 12-0 in the 3rd game and 6-0 over a previously undefeated team to reach the gold medal game against the team from Canada.

The girls continued their run with a decisive 5-0 win over Ontario to claim gold in their own little miracle on ice. Helena Houle, Nora Young and Mia Fabrizio were named tournament MVP’s.

Congratulations to the entire U14 team and coaches!
