When it’s back to school time, that also means it is time to surround the HHS Turf field with flags.
Just in time for the Friday Night opening HHS football game and 9/11 remembrances next week, members of Hingham’s American Legion Post and members of the HHS Veterans Appreciation Club joined forces to place the flags.
A total of 1260 flags were hung around the field and will remain in place through Veterans Day in November. The flags are repurposed from the 50 Flags Program when flag sticks are broken. The flags are attached to 8 foot long 1 x 3 strapping and quick tied to the railings around the field.
This year’s 50 Flags Program raised $32,500 in support of paying for the 4th of July Parade.
