The members of Hingham High Drama Club invite anyone and everyone to join them for their latest production called “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” running on Zoom on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 at 7:30pm.
In this fast paced free-form comedy, the Brothers Grimm fairy tales are turned on their heads and catapulted online. Two narrators and several actors attempt to combine over 200 stories, ranging from classics like Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and Cinderella to the more bizarre and obscure stories like Faithful Johannes.
“Everyone is worn out by the pandemic,” states Drama Club co-president Nathan Lavoie, “so we hope to give people a night off, full of wild fun and laughter.”
The cast and crew have been working since the beginning of the school year to pull off their first online production. The actors have been rehearsing over Zoom, while crew heads have come up with new creative ways to provide the finishing touches of sets, props and costumes for an online environment.
“While there have been some logistical complications along the way, this group of thespians is determined to give the public the same level of quality theater people associate with Hingham High Drama,” explains HHS Drama Teacher Anita Levy-Sisk.
All performances will be live streamed via Zoom and have an expected running time of two hours and 15 minutes with intermission. Links will be sent to ticket purchasers in advance of the show.
Tickets can be purchased on the show’s website at www.onthestage.com/show/
