March 28, 2024 Submitted by the Hingham Historical Society

On March 7, 1774, Patriots held a Second Boston Tea Party when they threw tea leftover from the December 1773 event into Boston Harbor. The boycott of tea throughout 1774 resulted in America developing as a coffee-loving country.

The Hingham Historical Society commemorated these Tea Party events with a community submitted art show and local coffee bar on Saturday, March 23rd at the Hingham Heritage Museum. The free community event encouraged artists to submit art reflected a creative interpretation of the events of the Boston Tea Party. The ballroom was filled throughout the afternoon with young artists, families, and art appreciators of all ages.

The Hingham Historical Society would like to thank the many students of Hingham Public Schools who creatively crafted their masterpieces and the teachers who encouraged them to join in the event.
