Hingham Public Library is hosting a number of events for adults in June, some in-person and others via Zoom. Everyone is welcome to participate. All events and programs require online registration.

Conversion Equipment Showcase -- Wednesday, June 15, 7 p.m., via Zoom, and Thursday, June 16, 11 a.m., in person in the Training Room -- Participants will learn what conversion equipment the library has for use in the library and to check out. From 8mm film, vinyl records, VHS's, and more, HPL has a collection of devices to bring one's memories into the digital age.

The showcase will cover tips on ways to store digitized media and will get participants thinking about what methods and formats would work best for them.

Space is limited, so online registration is necessary. For the Zoom class, the link will be emailed to participants shortly before the program begins.

Technology Services Librarian Robby St. John will display and demonstrate the library's devices during the in-person class.

Dementia Communication Strategies -- Wednesday, June 22, 7 p.m. via Zoom. Join artist, author, and Certified Dementia Practitioner Siobhan McDonald to learn about using art and images to communicate with people living with dementia.

McDonald, who is also certified in Visual Thinking Strategies, is the author of "Hilda's Story: New Bedford, Massachusetts," an interactive read-aloud story designed for entertainment, understanding, comfort, and connection. Register online for this Zoom event. The link will be emailed shortly before the start of the program.

How to use Mango Languages -- Mon., June 27, 7 p.m. via Zoom -- Participants in this class will learn how to access Mango Languages -- a self-paced, online language-learning tool that teaches real conversation skills and culture in more than 70 languages -- in a way that makes learning fun.

Mango is free to everyone with a Hingham library card and can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection -- whether on a computer or a mobile device.

Register online, and the link will be emailed just before the program starts.

HPL Book Group: "Barracoon" by Zora Neale Hurston, Tuesday, June 28, 7 p.m., in person -- The HPL Book Club, a friendly group of library patrons and bibliophiles that has been meeting regularly for more than 10 years, welcomes new members.  An average of 15 to 20 readers attends each book group. All are invited to participate, whether on a regular basis or when a particular title piques their interest.

Copies of this month's title, "Barracoon" -- by Zora Neale Hurston -- will be available for pick-up at the Reference Desk beginning June 6. Register online for this event.

Summer Game Showcase -- Thursday, June 30, anytime between 2 and 5 p.m. Stop by the main lobby for a preview of the library's new summer games for outside fun -- whether at a barbecue or at the beach with friends -- all are free to borrowers.
