Get ready to step into a world of magic, music, and marvel as Hingham Middle School presents “Mary Poppins Jr!” Under the direction of Maureen Fish, the students of Hingham Middle School have been hard at work, rehearsing for months, to bring this timeless classic to the stage – complete with flying actors!
HMS Drama hired a specialized theatrical flying company, ZFX, to fly Mary and Bert in the show, and all involved have had significant training and rehearsal time to master their tricks. Kimya Howell (Mary), flies several times throughout the show. “At first it was terrifying! Now if I don’t look down, it’s fun!” she quipped during rehearsal. Miles Woolfson (Bert) adds, “There’s nothing like it!” On what he’s learned from playing this role, Miles shared, “It really is true what Bert says, “Problems ain’t so bad if you look at them from a little higher up!”
With its unforgettable songs like “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, “Step in Time” and “Jolly Holiday”, this production is sure to leave audiences humming long after the final curtain falls!
