The Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant (HMLP) recently held its 4th Annual Food Drive to benefit the Hingham Food Pantry and it was a huge success! In just one week, generous HMLP customers dropped off over 1,600 pounds of much-needed food and household items at HMLP’s office in Bare Cove Park.
COVID-19 has brought almost unimaginable difficulties for large segments of our population. We are facing health and economic challenges the likes of which have not been endured in decades. More people than ever are facing food insecurities and finding it difficult to feed their families. The Hingham Food Pantry provides much-needed support to those suffering and they in turn rely on help from community partners like HMLP.
HMLP’s General Manager Paul Heanue noted, “I’ve been working in Hingham for almost 14 years and I am still amazed at the level of generosity and community support Hingham residents have for their neighbors. It truly gives me goose bumps when I think about it.”
Hingham Food Pantry Director Susan Kiernan agrees: “We are truly humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support from our Hingham neighbors.”
The Hingham Food Pantry is located at the rear of Second Parish Church, 685 Main St., Hingham. Their contact number is 781-740-8180.
