Chief David Jones is pleased to announce that Hingham Police Department’s Officer Robert Ramsey has been recognized by the Massachusetts Juvenile Police Officers Association (MJPOA) as School Resource Officer of the Year.

Officer Ramsey was named MJPOA’s School Resource Officer of the Year on Tuesday, May 9, at the New England School Safety Conference, which took place at the Sheraton Four Points in Norwood. He earned recognition for his commitment to serving the children of Hingham Middle School for the past 18 years.

During his time at the middle school, Officer Ramsey has taught the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) curriculum to approximately 5,000 students, including approximately 20 percent of the current members of the Hingham Police Department, who were once Hingham Middle School students themselves.

There will be a ceremony at Hingham Town Hall at a later date to celebrate Officer Ramsey and his accomplishment.

“All of us at the Hingham Police Department are thrilled that Officer Ramsey has been recognized for his hard work and dedication to the safety and education of Hingham’s students,” said Chief Jones. “This award is so well-deserved.”
