Exploration into Blues: The Art of Jaynia Matherwiez Artist Bio: Born and raised in Massachusetts, Jaynia Matherwiez spent a fair amount of her childhood at the beach. As she got a bit older, she devoted even more time to the coast, including Nantucket, Chatham and the Caribbean, and has grown to have an appreciation for the water.

She took a variety of art classes in college and, while working in educational publishing, found a way to bring creative writing and art into her work. After having her two children, she took a break to focus on her family. As her children have gotten older, Jaynia worked in website design, and has volunteered her time for several non-profits. Revisiting art classes in 2022 brought back Jaynia’s passion for art. The blues and greens of her palette are reminiscent of the ocean. She paints abstract seascapes using palette knives and brushes, well as some intuitive abstract works and experiments with mixed media.

Embracing the View, Paintings in Oil: The Art of Adrienne Richardson Artist Statement: “Welcome to my wide-ranging exhibit, a collection of paintings accomplished from 2021-2024. I have been painting for 24 years following a long teaching career and was excited and motivated to have time for one of my retirement goals. Classes and workshops have played a large part in learning the skills needed to capture the landscapes and simple still lives that I love. I have been fortunate to learn from some excellent teachers, including Astrid Donnellan, Vincent Crotty, Dennis Perrin, Cory Wright, and Kelli Folsom with much advice and inspiration from others along the way. I hope you enjoy my oil paintings.”

The public is invited to an opening reception for both artists on Wednesday, May 8 from 6:00-8:00.
