The Hingham Senior Center is seeking volunteer drivers to provide transportation for Hingham's senior population, ages 60 and over, to appointments and other destinations in Hingham and surrounding communities. A qualified candidate would be available for four- to five-hour shifts -- usually mornings, up to three weekdays per month. This is a meaningful way to volunteer and also an opportunity to interact with Hingham's seniors. Many of the current drivers are retired seniors themselves, and some have been volunteering for more than 20 years.
The Senior Center currently has two eight-passenger, wheelchair-accessible vans. Driving them is not much different from driving an SUV. For more detailed information, call the Senior Center at (781) 741-1458 and request to speak with the transportation coordinator. Drivers must submit a volunteer application, current driver’s license and a CORI form.
