As consciousness grows about the existence of systemic racism in America, reading, watching, and having conversations about this American reality is one of the most important things we can do to become part of the solution. What better way to discover the story of race in our country than to start right in your own home? The Hingham Unity Council, ACLU Hingham High School chapter and local teens are presenting a Community Read and Virtual Discussion of Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds’ Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You. This New York Times bestseller takes the reader on an eye opening race journey. It explains the roots of racism in America and explores our emotions towards the topic. This is a youth oriented conversation and the small discussion groups will be led by youth as well. If you are a teen interested in talking with others about racism in America, please consider joining the conversation to discuss this empowering book on July 30 and August 6. There is still so much to discover and change to be made to carve a path for an antiracist future. Participants can also sign up with friends if they wish and family groups can be accommodated.
