History Moment: The Kimball Family Photo Collection

1914 - Three generations of Kimballs at the office of George E. Kimball Lumber on Summer St. in Hingham Harbor, 1914.

The Kimball family - beginning with George E. Kimball pictured here with his family at the turn of the 20th century and continuing to his great-granddaughter Judy - have over the years, graciously donated images in a variety of media — glass plate negatives and lantern slides, black and white and color prints, and even video to the archives at the Hingham Historical Society.

There are themes running through the images: Summer Street and Hingham Harbor, the location of the George E. Kimball Lumber Co.; fires and the Hingham Fire Department, which Albert M. Kimball and later, Albert W. led; historic houses and views, collected by Judy Kimball, once active in our Historical Society and a member of Hingham's 350th Committee. Click on the link below to enjoy these amazing images of Hingham and check back often, as we will add to them as we process the collection.
