Carols by Candlelight

The beautifully decorated church sanctuaries of the Lutheran House of Prayer in Hingham and First Parish Church in Cohasset provide the backdrop for the Unicorn Singers December concert program of Carols by Candlelight led by Artistic Director, Kelley DePasqua of Plymouth.

The Unicorn Singers is a Hingham-based choral ensemble of 25 singers from across the South Shore.

The concert opens with most of Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, featuring Hingham resident Tracy Allen on harp and Scituate resident and accompanist Lenae Badger on piano. Britten drew inspiration from medieval English poetry and a collection of 15th-century texts, crafting a musical tapestry that captures the essence of the Christmas season.

After a carol-sing of familiar favorites, the Unicorn Singers will continue the program with the contemporary choral ‘carols’ by John Rutter, Eric Whitacre, Pentatonix, Andre Thomas and Dan Forrest that celebrate the work of Christmas, reminding us to “find the lost, heal the broken…and to bring peace among brothers.” We hope you will join us this season as the Unicorn Singers partner with Wellspring Multi-Service Center to support the Diane Edson Fund.

Tickets to either concert on Saturday, December 14 at 7:30 pm at House Prayer Church, 916 Main St., Hingham or on Sunday, December 15 at 4 pm First Parish, 23 No. Main St., Cohasset are available at www.unicornsingers.org or 781-749-0161
